Week 4 Waiver Wire

Week 3 has come and gone and we did not experience the crazy amount of injuries that week 2 had. We saw some big games for players out of nowhere, such as Justin Jefferson who showed a glimpse of why he was a 1st round pick. We saw an injury to Chris Carson, which may force him to miss a week or two at best. In his place we should see Carlos Hyde step in and produce immediately. Justin Herbert showed the Chargers offense runs great through him. Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen couldn’t be more thrilled with the production they are givien now. Some names below really took off and if you’ve been saving that top waiver claim, you have some nice names to go for and this might be the week to do it. Some of these names may be repeats from previous weeks, jump on the bandwagon and grab them before they’re over 50% rostered next week. Injuries to players allowed some of these names to take the opportunity and run with it. Some of these names will breakout again next week.

RUNNING BACK

Carlos Hyde / Seahawks / 9% rostered

With the news of Chris Carson potentially missing a couple games, Hyde becomes a must add if you’re in short term need of a RB or had Chris Carson. Travis Homer has the potential to steal carries, but it seems that Hyde will get the opportunity to take the increased role. Hyde entered later in the game, but he managed 4 carries for 12 yards with a catch for 11 yards. I want anyone with a prominent role on that offense and Hyde offers some stand alone value even when Carson returns. He should be a starting fantasy RB for at least a few weeks. 25% of FAAB

Jeff Wilson / 49ers / 23% rostered

Tevin Coleman is going to miss time being placed on IR. Raheem Mostert is still up in the air in regards to his status for next week. Wilson wasn’t entirely great on the ground as he had 12 carries for 15 yards but he did have a touchdown. He brought in 3 catches for 54 yards and a touchdown as well. Jerick McKinnon has bruised ribs now, so his status could even be iffy. If Mostert comes back, and Wilson is the RB2, he is worth a flier. 15-20% of FAAB

Myles Gaskin / Dolphins / 47% rostered

This is the last week he will be on here. We have spotlighted Gaskin for a while now and all he has done is perform. Gaskin "took over" the Miami backfield last Thursday night against the Jaguars, but truth be told it has been his since week 1. I really doubt he is there for your league, but if he is he needs to be the immediate top waiver add. He had 22 carries for 66 yards to go with 5 catches for 29 yards. Let's forget Jordan Howard taking touchdowns away. Grab Gaskin and start with confidence. Use your top waiver spot or 35% of FAAB budget

Rex Burkhead / Patriots / 7% rostered

I’ll be the first to admit. I don’t trust this backfield. However, Burkhead really proved to be the goal to go back. James White remains out for his tragic loss of his father, and we send our best wishes to him. Every week should be a different game plan, and there will be the Cam Newton goal line touchdowns, but if you’re in need of a bench RB, Burkhead is a nice gamble. When he hits, he will hit good. He had 6 carries for 49 yards with 2 touchdowns and 7 catches for 49 yards and another touchdown. This is the annual Patriots RB headache which you don't want a part of aside from best ball. 5-10% of FAAB

WIDE RECEIVER

Justin Jefferson / Vikings / 31% rostered

Justin Jefferson broke out in a big way Sunday. It was only a matter of time, and he took off Sunday. He had 7 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown. He recorded a 71 yard touchdown and led the team in targets (9). The team stinks and their terrible secondary will cause them to be behind all day every day. There is tremendous upside here, go big. 35-40% of FAAB

Allen Lazard / Packers / 49% rostered

I highly doubt he is on your waiver wire, but if he is you need to grab him. Lazard had a huge game with Devante Adams sitting out on Sunday. He had 6 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. Granted, this is without Adams. Lazard had 9 combined targets week 1 and 2, and 8 on Sunday. I’m buying into the hype, but don’t over expect him to do this every week, especially with Adams back. He is a solid WR3/Flex play. 25% of FAAB

Tee Higgins / Bengals / 11% rostered

Tee Higgins was a 2nd round draft pick for the Bengals this offseason, and he broke out Sunday. He brought in 5 catches for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was targeted 9 times by Joe Burrow, and is in line to play the same Jaguars who allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw all over.

He is a nice stash option to wait and see if his breakout continues. There may be some inconsistent weeks, but the talent is there. Alot of mouths to feed in this offense. 15% of FAAB

Brandon Aiyuk / 49ers / 28% rostered

Brandon Aiyuk, the first round pick for the 49ers this offseason had a smashing debut game. It seems as if Sunday was the week of the rookie. Aiyuk had 5 catches for 70 yards and rushed 3 times for 31 yards and a touchdown. With all the injuries the 49ers have, Aiyuk stepped up and made his impact. With players coming back to full health there, it remains to be seen for his role, but he is someone to keep an eye on. 15-20% of FAAB

Greg Ward / Eagles / 1% rostered

Is anyone healthy on the Eagles? Desean Jackson, Jalen Reagor, Alshon Jeffrey, and now Dallas Goedert injured, someone has to catch the ball. Insert Greg Ward. 11 targets for 8 catches and 72 yards with a touchdown. Ward has an opportunity to shine against the 49ers next Sunday, and is worth a dart throw in the waivers for deeper rosters. 5% of FAAB

Hunter Renfrow / Raiders / 10% rostered

I was praising Renfrow all offseason about his talent, and he finally took that step Sunday. With Henry Ruggs injured, Renfrow stepped up with 6 catches on 9 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown. Monitor Ruggs’ status because Renfrow is a sneaky good add if he remains out. Last season Carr and Renfrow built chemistry, and they seem to be adding to it. He could be a nice WR3/4. 10% of FAAB

QUARTERBACK

Justin Herbert / Chargers / 21% rostered

We have had Herbert on here pounding the table to make the add if you need it. He has taken the job and is running with it. Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler are massively benefitting as well from Herbert taking over. He threw for 330 yards and a touchdown Sunday. Herbert is looking like the real deal and is making the overall team better. At this point, he is a solid QB2 or bench QB to fill in for bye weeks or matchup playing. If you have an underperforming QB1 such as Carson Wentz, pay a little more as needed, but otherwise 5-10% of FAAB

Nick Foles / Bears / 5% rostered

It was only a matter of time, Nick Foles is now starting for the Bears. He came in Sunday and threw 3 touchdowns. If you are in need of another QB in a 2QB league, Foles may be the one you want to dump a lot of FAAB on. He will not be giving this job back to Mitch Trubisky. Same as with Herbert, go heavy if you are in need, but otherwise it's 10%

Ryan Fitzpatrick / Dolphins / 21% rostered

Yes, the Ryan Fitzpatrick cycle is upon us. He is channeling his inner Fitzmagic and threw for 2 touchdowns and added in 38 rushing yards. We know he isn’t going to keep this up, but for the time being, he is a nice QB2 to fill in based on matchups. 5% of FAAB

TIGHT END

Moe Alie-Cox / Colts/ 8% rostered

We had him here last week. Jack Doyle was active this week, and Alie-Cox continued to produce. He had 3 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. He seems to be developing good chemistry with Phillip Rivers, and a good matchup versus the bears is coming next. Great to continue to stream, 10% if he looks to be a possible long term starter for you

Dalton Schultz / Cowboys / 31% rostered

We had Schultz on here last week when he was barely rostered. He didn’t put up a big game Sunday, but 4 catches for 48 yards. He was targeted 6 times. The Cowboys offense is going to be a high scoring offense, and I want every part of it I can get. Dollar and a dream.

STREAMING DEFENSES

Broncos

They play the Jets. Need I say more?

Cardinals

They are playing the CMC-less Panthers. Granted Teddy has been playing well, this is a decent streaming matchup. Oh and the Cardinals play the Jets week 5. They are a nice back to back

streamer. Hint, they’ll be on here next week.

Rams

They play the Saquonless Giants. The 49ers Sunday had 1 INT and 2 fumble recoverys, while allowing 9 points. The Rams have the Giants traveling across the country. I expect a decent game for their defense.
